• Retrieve your mail on or about the time it is delivered.
• Do not leave mail in the mailbox overnight.
• When out of town have a neighbor pick up your mail, or notify the Post Office to have your mail stopped.
• Never put out-going mail, which contains checks or personal identification numbers, in your mailbox.
• Report any suspicious activity, or people loitering near mailboxes or around the neighborhood.

When choosing a mailbox choose one bearing these three recommended factors in mind: Strength, Durability, and Function.

• A narrow mail drop which makes it difficult to remove mail from the box.
• One made of steel that locks to help deter vandalism and mail theft.
